Description
The exhibition “1821/2021, Contemporary Greek Painting” is inspired by and contributes to the celebration of the anniversary of 200 years since the start of the Greek revolution. The presentation of the paintings of nine contemporary Greek creators, crafted for this occasion, with their different aesthetic choices, diverse techniques, symbolic and real references, transports us through a panoramic view and interpretation of the 200 years of existence of the Greek State. Portraits of personalities that have contributed essentially with their actions, to the nation’s endeavours, like Ioannis Kapodistrias (1776_1831), who was the first Governor, the national poet Dionysios Solomos (1798_1857), the leader in combat Laskarina Bouboulina (1771_1825), the imprint of historic events and symbols are brought together through art where they describe and re-present the continuity of the feelings of Greek Identity.
